DI4LOGUE: 4 Questions for My Socialite

BR4DSH4W: WHAT ARE YOU IMPRESSED WITH?
I’m impressed with people who just have an idea and then they’re like, “fuck failure, I’m just going to do this.” Like, I definitely had that mindset of going balls to the wall on projects, and for the most part I can say that has done me really well. I’m a little bit more reserved in both ideas and projects and writing over the past couple of years for a lot of reasons—all of which are all in my head, really—and I want to be like my friends who are like, “you know what? I’ve written two novels. Fuck this shit, I think I’ll go to med school and be a burn unit specialist.” (I dated one of those. It’s equal parts amazing and depressing.)

BR4DSH4W: WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?
Pop culture. The Internet. Awkward silences.

BR4DSH4W: WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO?
Oh man, as of right this second? The Bird And The Bee. Albums I have purchased or downloaded lately include Adele, Vampire Weekend (yes, late bloomers for the both of them), and Jane Lui (a fantastic, local, SF artist with musicality similar to Tori Amos).

BR4DSH4W: HOW DO YOU LIKE TO BEGIN?
Like begin my day? Gah. I wake up, I turn on the TV and watch the Today Show on the one channel I get since I don’t have cable. I check my e-mail, make something simple for breakfast and head off to work.
